Organization

The Congregational Church of New Fairfield is governed as a deliberative assembly that follows parliamentary law. As such, all decisions are made as a result of the power granted to its teams and committees by the congregation as a whole. A set of by-laws, the church's constitution, governs the organization and responsibility of each board or committee as well as its members. Officers and team members are elected during our May quarterly meeting for various terms as prescribed by our by-laws. Our church's structure was reorganized in 2005 to better meet the demands of the congregation (see).

This page includes an overall organization structure, an online version of our by-laws, our most recent annual reports, and our current church policy documents.

Introduction

The government of this Church is vested in its members who exercise the right of control in all its affairs. It is amenable to no other ecclesiastical body, but accepts the obligations of mutual counsel, comity and cooperation involved in free fellowship of the United Church of Christ and pledges itself to share their common aims and work. This Church is in direct fellowship with the Fairfield East Association and the Connnecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ, and strives to cooperate with all Churches to promote the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
